Shopify store launch checklist: 15 things to check before you go live
Launching a store feels exciting and slightly scary. This checklist catches the things that are easy to forget.
Products and content
- Every product has clear photos from more than one angle and a readable description.
- Prices, variants and stock are correct, including sizes and colours.
- Collections make sense: shoppers can find things in two clicks.
- Product titles and descriptions use words customers actually search for.
Money and shipping
- Payments are switched on and you have placed a real test order.
- Shipping rates and zones match what you can really deliver, with delivery times shown.
- Taxes are set up correctly for where you sell.
- Returns and refund policy is written and linked in the footer.
Trust and legal
- Privacy policy, terms and contact page exist and are linked.
- Contact details are easy to find, with a monitored email address.
Speed, mobile and tracking
- Test on a real phone. Browse, add to cart and check out.
- Compress images and remove apps you do not use, since each can slow the store.
- Analytics and ad pixels are connected and tested.
- Order emails (confirmation, shipping) are checked and carry your brand.
The last check
- Place two test orders end to end: one with a discount code, one without. Confirm the emails arrive and the order appears in your admin.
After launch
Watch the first week closely: where visitors leave, which pages load slowly, which products get views but no sales. Fix the biggest problem first.
